AUGUSTA — McPherson High’s JV baseball team had trouble with Augusta, too.

The teams met on Friday instead of Thursday because of a lack of a playing field. The Orioles came away with 13-2 and 4-3 victories. They had swept the varsity games on Thursday as well.

Augusta scored seven runs in the first inning to win the opener in easy fashion. McPherson was held to two hits, one each by Paxton Leaf and Alex Kalkhorst.

Raine Reitsma took the loss.

The Bullpups were in position for a split in Game 2, leading 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh, but the Orioles rallied with two runs for the 4-3 victory.

Dylan Werries had a huge game for the Bullpups by going 3 for 4. Sam Brossard added two hits. Brossard took the loss despite allowing only two earned runs.
