Hesston High basketball and football standout Grant Raleigh suffered severe injuries in a skiing accident on Friday while on vacation in Breckenridge, Colo.

According to texts sent by his father and basketball coach, Greg, he suffered a broken back, broken pelvis, internal bleeding and broken bones in an arm and shoulder. He reportedly is now stabilized.

Raleigh, a senior, is one of the greatest athletes ever produced at Hesston. He was first-team Class 3A this year, averaging 16.7 points a game. He helped the Swathers to the Class 3A state title last year.

In football, he both ran and threw for more than 1,000 yards this past season, leading the Swathers to a 10-1 record. He earned various postseason honors.
