DENVER — According to texts by Hesston High boys basketball coach Greg Raleigh, his son Grant is making improvement following surgery Sunday in a Denver hospital after he suffered numerous serious injuries in a skiing accident on Friday in Breckenridge, Colo.
Grant Raleigh was All-State in both football and basketball earlier this school year.
The Sunday surgery was to stabilize his back, which was broken in three spots.
Greg Raleigh reported that Grant doesn’t remember the accident, which shattered his pelvis. He also suffered several broken bones in an arm and shoulder.
Greg Raleigh added the internal bleeding has subsided and that Grant “is in good spirits and wanting to get moving.”
He was scheduled for another surgery this morning. Reports indicate he’ll be in Denver at least two weeks before being transferred to a rehab facility in Wichita.
