DOUGLASS — The hitting was way ahead of the pitching Tuesday when Moundridge’s softball team opened its season against Douglass.
The Wildcats lost 10-6 and 13-7 verdicts.
Douglass used three big innings to win the first game, scoring three runs in the first and third and then four in the sixth.
Baylie Blouin pounded out a homer and two singles, good for four RBIs, to lead Moundridge. Bethany Stucky added two hits. Emily Knight took the loss.
Moundridge fell behind 6-0 early in the second game but had it tied at 6 by the fourth inning. But the Bulldogs scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth as the impetus to the victory.
The loss spoiled a nice game by Elizabeth Ratzlaff, who had three RBIs on two hits. Blouin and Michelle Schrag contributed doubles. Ratzlaff took the loss.
