LINDSBORG — McPherson College has everything that Smoky Valley senior Greg Elvin is looking for.
Elvin on Tuesday signed a football letter of intent with the Bulldogs, as new coach Paul Mierkiewicz continues to bolster the ranks.
“I have a great opportunity to get a really good education while doing two things I really enjoy, playing football and playing in the band,” Elvin said. “I really like the auto restoration program and what it has to offer. Also, it just feels like the right place for me. Coach Mierkiewicz and Mr. (Kyle) Hopkins (band director) are two great guys and I really like the way they are improving their programs at McPherson College.”
Elvin was a longtime standout for the Vikings as he lettered for four years as he got on the field for important minutes as a freshman under coach Chris Hattabaugh. He started for three years and was first-team Central Kansas League at linebacker this past season, helping the Vikings to postseason play.
He also can long snap, a spot the Bulldogs have to fill this season.
He is the son of Darrell and Shari Elvin.
