Regional assignments announced by KSHSAA

The road to Salina for McPherson High’s softball team has to go through Andale.

The Bullpups, who finished second in the state last year at Salina in their first-ever appearance, will head to Andale next month for a Class 4A Division I regional.

The combined Andale-Garden Plain team, always a powerhouse, will join the Bullpups along with Buhler and Hays for the May 19 event.

Meanwhile, Smoky Valley goes to Chapman for its 4A Division II regional that also includes Concordia and the combined Clay Center-Wakefield team.

Canton-Galva will host a 2A-1A event at Galva that includes Inman, Little River, Moundridge and Ellinwood.

Hesston, in Class 3A, plays at Marion. Other teams are Council Grove, Halstead, Hillsboro, Marion, Sedgwick and Remington.

In baseball, McPherson High journeys to Hays for a regional on May 19 that also includes Buhler and Ulysses.

In 4A D-II, Smoky Valley goes to Nickerson, with Chapman and Concordia the other teams.

Moundridge will be a 2A-1A host and will be joined by area teams Canton-Galva, Inman and Little River. Chase County and Northern Heights complete the field.

Regional track and field assignments also came out, with the date for all meets set for May 22.

McPherson High goes to Holcomb. Other teams are Andale, Buhler, Clearwater, Colby, Goodland, Hays, Thomas More Prep, Hugoton, Larned, Smoky Valley, Nickerson, Pratt, Ulysses and Wellington. Andale and Hays are expected to be two of the best teams in the state.

In Class 3A, Hesston goes to Garden Plain. Other teams are Chaparral, Belle Plaine, Cheney, Cimarron, Conway Springs, Halstead, Haven, Trinity Catholic, Kingman, Southwestern Heights, Lakin, Sedgwick, Wichita Collegiate and Wichita Independent.

Herington is hosting a 2A meet that includes area schools Canton-Galva, Inman, Little River and Moundridge. Other teams are Northern Heights, Chase County, Berean Acadmey, West Elk, Lyndon, Olpe, Oswego, Peabody, Pittsburg Colgan, Uniontown and Yates Center.

Elyria Christian’s site is yet to be determined in Class 1A.
