LINDSBORG — Smoky Valley’s baseball team bounced back from a pair of season-opening losses to even its record at 2-2 on Thursday by sweeping Hillsboro.
The Vikings spotted the Trojans a 4-0 lead in the first game, scoring six runs in the fourth to key an 8-6 triumph.
Tim Ruble was the winning pitcher and received offensive support from Brett Heitschmidt and Kirk Barnes, as they drove in two runs apiece.
The second game was loaded with excitement as the Vikings overcame an 11-3 deficit for a 12-11 win, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off success.
Ruble was 3 for 3 with two doubles. Zach Able added three singles and Heitschmidt had two more hits. Ross Schrag blasted a double.
Andrew McClure was the winner.
The Vikings are on the road for the first time on Tuesday when they play at Nickerson.
