Bethany netters split with Southwestern

LINDSBORG — It was the KCAC tennis opener for Bethany College on Saturday, with the men steamrolling their way to a 9-0 shutout while Southwestern was nearly as dominant on the women’s side, winning 8-1.

Winning in doubles for the BC men were Manuel Raga and Michiel Van Den Bogaert at No. 1, 8-0; Juan Mateus and Bruno Campos at No. 2, 8-2; and Dujoh Ollivierre and Thomas Mayberry were victorious 8-6 at No. 3.

Raga and Mateus both won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Van Den Bogaert did likewise at No. 3. Campos (6-0, 6-1), Ollivierre (6-0, 6-2) and Mayberry (6-1, 6-1) won at the final three spots.

Michelle Rambo picked up the only point for the BC women by winning the No. 6 singles match 7-5, 4-6 (12-10). 

The teams will host Tabor College on Monday.
