MHS netters capture Goddard title

McPherson High’s tennis team competed in two meets on Thursday. Results just became available this morning.

At Goddard, the Bullpups won the team title with 20 points despite being the only 4A school in a field of 5A and 6A schools.

The Bullpups’ No. 2s came through big. Gallagher Martin (3-0) won at No. 2 singles, while the No. 2 doubles team of Kaden Stewart and Nolan Schrader also went 3-0 for the title.

Andrew Snell (2-1) was second at No. 1 singles, while the No. 2 doubles team of Kento Aizawa and Luke Williams (2-1) also took second.

Goddard (15), Goddard Eisenhower (12), Maize (12), Derby (4) and Wichita Northwest (0) completed the field.

At Conway Springs, MHS took third with its second group. Conway Springs and Trinity Academy finished ahead of the Bullpups, while Hillsboro was fourth in the quad.

Dalyn Chapman and Thomas Smith were 2-1 for second at No. 2 doubles. The No. 1 doubles team of Trey Hett and Price Kramer went 1-2 for third. Also third was Patrick Munsey (1-2) at No. 1 singles. Alex Milleson (0-3) played No. 2 singles.
