Slechta, Jumonville win events at Newton

NEWTON — McPherson High’s Tiffany Slechta and Jaxon Jumonville were gold-medal performers on Monday in the Newton Invitational Track and Field Meet.

Slechta captured first in the high jump at 4-10, while Jumonville was the winner of 300 hurdles in 42.2.

The MHS girls, who didn’t take their full team, took sixth with 69 points. Newton was the runaway winner with 173. The Bullpup boys were seventh with 44 1/2 points, with Salina Central rolling to the title with 145.

Tiffany Slechta — 1st in high jump, 4-10

Katlyn Ruth — 6th in javelin, 92-10

Rachel Dossett — 3rd in high jump, 4-8; 8th in triple jump, 29-8

Amy Suenram — 2nd in long jump, 16-6

Elle Barrett — 4th in long jump, 16-1

Kamryn Collins — 2nd in 100, 13.5; 3rd in 200, 28.0.

Laynie Moore — 6th in 100 13.7; 6th in 200, 28.6.

4 x 100 relay — 2. MHS (Anderson, Collins, Barrett and Moore), 51.9

Sydney Ruder — 3rd in 300 hurdles, 50.3

Ciera Beasley — 8th in 3,200,  14:38.1

Noah Jirgens — 2nd in discus, 143-0; 5th in 300 hurdles, 45.1

Andric McGill — 4 (tie) in high jump, 5-10

Drew Labertew — 7th in 100 hurdles, 19.0

4 x 800 relay — 7. MHS (Hansen, Armstrong, Kirchner and Martin), 9:16.7

Chris Stoppel — 4th in 100, 11.9.

Kyle Smith — 6th in 400, 56.7

Jaxon Jumonville —1st in 300 hurdles, 42.2
