SV, Nickerson split in baseball

NICKERSON — Smoky Valley and Nickerson hooked up in a pair of close baseball games on Tuesday, with both teams winning once.

The Vikings scored three runs in the seventh inning of the first game for an 11-10 comeback victory. Brett Heitschmidt provided the excitement for the Vikes, as his two-out, two-run single in the seventh pushed them ahead.

Dylan Goodell was the winner. Kirk Barnes had three hits and Tim Ruble two. Andrew McClure scored four runs.

Nickerson turned the tables in the second game, scoring five runs in the sixth inning to rally for a 7-5 win.

Jordin Foth was 2 for 3 for Smoky Valley and Ruble had a double. Ryan Weldy took the loss.

Smoky Valley is 3-3 on the year and hosts Kingman on Thursday.
