STERLING — Central Christian College’s baseball team put a scare into nationally ranked Sterling on Tuesday.

Except for a tainted eighth-inning run, the Tigers played the 24th-ranked Warriors to a scoreless tie.

Sterling’s 1-0 win spoiled a great pitching performance by the Tigers’ Chase Dean, who worked all eight innings and the only run he allowed came via an error.

Sterling used five different pitchers and the only hit they surrendered was by Clayton Cramer.

Central, now 7-35, goes to College of the Ozarks for a four-game series beginning on Friday in Point Lookout, Mo.

Central (0) — Cramer 4-0-1-0, Gorman 4-0-0-0, Herbig 3-0-0-0, Eshelman 3-0-0-0, Stoops 3-0-0-0, Echenique 3-0-0-0, Barnhart 3-0-0-0, Carney 2-0-0-0, Rivera 2-0-0-0, Boedeker 1-0-0-0.
