INMAN — Canton-Galva showed no first-game jitters in its baseball opener on Tuesday against county rival Inman.
The Eagles came out swinging, rolling to a 12-7 victory. Tanner Klingensmith was the winning pitcher and received ample offensive support. Ethan Loyd and Hunter Pearson both ripped three hits, and Reed Wiens and Connor Farnham had two.
It was just a 5-1 game going into the sixth inning when the Eagles erupted for seven runs. Inman came back with five in the bottom of the inning.
Wyatt Regehr and Jon Landeros hit doubles for Inman. Will McLain took the loss.
Inman was not deterred, however, storming back for a 19-9 win. Ryan Snow smoked a triple and double to lead the Teutons, who struck for eight runs in the third inning. Noah Tuscan was the winner.
Klingensmith had a good game by collecting two hits, driving in two runs and scoring three. Wiens also drove in two runs. Nick Bray took the loss.
