MOUNDRIDGE — The Moundridge softball team is getting the tougher teams out of the way early.
The Wildcats are still looking for their first win after losing a pair of games on Tuesday to powerful Trinity Catholic.
“This was a difficult night for us,” Moundridge coach Clark Wedel said. “We struggled at the plate against their pitching. It will be a must that we perform better at the plate. Our players just need to relax and yet compete on every pitch. Defensively, we just need to make the plays that are there for us to make. Our players will bounce back.”
The Celtics were a 4-1 first-game winner. MHS was held to four hits, two by Michelle Schrag. Brynne Wedel and Bethany Stucky added hits. Emily Knight pitched well in defeat, fanning six and allowing only three earned runs.
Trinity completed the sweep with a 10-1 victory. The Wildcats’ only hits were singles by Schrag, Chelsey Knight and Zaelynn Foth. Elizabeth Ratzlaff took the loss.
Moundridge plays Friday at Canton-Galva.
