LINDSBORG — Undefeated Kingman was taken to the limit twice by Smoky Valley’s softball team on Thursday.
In Game 1, the Eagles had to score three runs in the top of the seventh to pull out an 8-6 victory. Smoky Valley had taken the lead with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Big games for the Vikings were by Hannah Morrical (3 for 4, two runs scored), Hannah Lemen (two-run double), Jacque Hulse (triple) and Halle McClure (two runs).
Keni Campbell took the loss. All three Kingman runs in the the seventh were unearned and five overall were result of errors.
Kingman improved to 6-0 with a narrow 7-6 decision in the nightcap. The Eagles trailed 5-2 before scoring two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Leaders for the Vikes were Ally Karber (two hits), Morrical (two runs), Campbell (double, two RBIs), Lemen (two runs) and Hulse (two-run double).
Campbell took the loss in relief of McClure.
The Vikings are now 2-4 both in the CKL and overall. They play host to Sterling on Tuesday.
