Bethany softball back to .500

LEAVENWORTH — Bethany College’s softball team dropped back to .500 in the KCAC on Saturday after a pair of setbacks at the hands of Saint Mary.

The Spires won 8-2 and 3-1, as the Swedes are now 6-6 in the KCAC and 19-19 on the year.

Bethany controlled the first game, up 2-0, but Saint Mary struck for back-to-back four-run innings in the fourth and fifth.

Jasmine Zaker had two hits for BC. Jasmine Stewart was pinned with the loss.

In Game 2, Saint Mary broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the fourth inning. Bethany was held to six hits, two apiece by Jordan Blakesley and Ashley Montoya. Kiersten Stolley took the loss.

The Swedes are playing Graceland University today in Lamoni, Iowa, before coming home Wednesday to play Ottawa.
