Solid showing for MHS netters

GODDARD — McPherson High’s boys tennis team more than held its own in the star-studded Goddard Invitational on Saturday.

The Bullpups, ranked No. 3 today in the Class 4A poll, took fourth place with 105 points, one behind Class 4A’s top-ranked team, Independence.

Blue Valley West, ranked No. 1 in Class 5A, was the team champion with 134 points, while 5A’s second-ranked team, Salina Central, was second with 131.

There were 16 teams in all.

In singles, Andrew Snell was sixth with a 3-2 record and Gallagher Martin was 10th, also with a 3-2 record. 

In doubles, Luke Williams and Kento Aizawa were 2-3 for eighth, while Kaden Stewart and Nolan Schrader were 4-1 for 17th.
