Hesston thinclads shine at Wichita

WICHITA — Hesston High’s track and field team came away with several high places during the Shocker Pre-State Challenge on Thursday and Friday at Wichita State’s Cessna Stadium.

The Swathers had two athletes compete at the Elite Level. Austin Bollinger was sixth in the 800 and Zach Esau was ninth in the 800.

In the 3-1A Division, Hesston had some tremendous places:

Jessanna Nebel — 1st in 100 hurdles; 3rd in 300 hurdles

Alaina Dunlavy — 1st in 400

Mikala Heddin — 1st in 800

4 x 400 relay — 1. (Kylie Brenneman, Taylor Valdez, Alaina Dunlavy and Jessanna Nebel)

Taylor Valdez — 2nd in 100

4 x 100 relay — 2. (Jessanna Nebel, Taylor Valdez, Alaina Dunlavy and Kylie Brenneman)

Austin Bollinger — 1st in 1,600

Cole Rostetter — 1st in 400

4 x 400 relay — 1. (Jonathan Weber, Zach Esau, Kelson Claassen and Austin Bollinger)

The Swathers are competing Tuesday in the Marion CKIT meet, which will be contested at Hillsboro because of working being done on Marion’s track.
