As part of the Public Input session at Monday's McPherson City Commission meeting, McPherson resident Norm Osterman thanked the McPherson Police and Fire departments for their assistance to him and the community.

Speaking of Police Chief Robert McClarty, Osterman said, "I thank the police chief for keeping us out of the news. You hear all this stuff about Ferguson and all that, we don't hear anything about McPherson, so that's great."

As for the firefighters, Osterman added, "They came to my house, checked my smoke alarms, replaced a few of them. I really appreciate that, because with my MS, I don't climb ladders anymore."

Osterman was the only one to speak as part of the Public Input session on Monday.
