This statute makes it illegal for any driver to willfully fail or refuse to stop for, or otherwise flee or attempt to elude a pursuing law enforcement officer (in a police vehicle or on a police bicycle) when emergency lights are flashing or a siren is sounding.

It becomes a felony when a driver fails to stop for a police road block, drives around spike strips, is reckless, intentionally causes damage to property, commits five or more moving violations, or attempts to elude capture in the commission of a felony. In McPherson, the fine for this action is $250, plus $75 court cost and your license may be suspended. Felony fine and costs are upward of $2,500.
