NEWTON — McPherson High’s Jacob Lackey shot a highly creditable 77 on Tuesday to earn fourth-medalist honors in the Newton Invitational Golf Tournament contested at Sand Creek Station.
Behind Lackey, who had his second score in the 70s in three tournaments, the Bullpups took third place with a 338.
Carroll, led by medalist Bobby Armstrong with a 74, won the team title with a 313. Arkansas City (318) was second, while MHS edged out Newton (342) by four shots for third.
Other scores were Derby (346), Salina Central (360), Valley Center (361), Campus (371), Winfield (382) and Newton B (440).
MHS’ CJ Steiner was 12th overall with an 83. Other MHS scores were Casey Cheek (88), Kaden Warren (90), Drew Pyle (97) and Tommy Smith (102).
The Bullpups are off until April 24 when they play at Salina South.
