LINDSBORG — Bethany College swept the KCAC Golfer of the Week honors on Tuesday, with Josef Loughlin winning on the men’s side and Aspen Bryant being named the best for the women.
At the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational, Loughlin fired an opening-round of 69 and followed it up with a round of 71 to finish at 140, 4-under-par for the tournament. He tied with teammate Jose Acevedo for third place, just three shots behind eventual champion Carlos Ardila (137) and two behind runner-up Thomas Holtzman (138).
Bryant is the first-ever female golfer to win the award in Bethany history. She took first at the Sterling Invitational to earn the award, shooting 81-77-158.
"It is great to see the men and women both have Players of the Week," Bethany coach Jon Daniels said. "Joe had an outstanding tournament and I believe he is turning the corner on becoming a very good player. Aspen also had a good tournament, winning by four shots over the competition and she has always been good and I look for her to become great. Both of them are great people and are most deserving of the award."
