LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s softball team continues to stay in a KCAC rut.
The Swedes once again split on Wednesday, as they took on Ottawa University. Bethany remained at .500 in the KCAC after losing the first game 12-2 in five innings, but bouncing back for a 2-0 shutout in Game 2 to gain the split.
The Swedes are 7-7 in conference games.
In the opener, Ottawa jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and put it away with five in the fourth. Bethany had only one hit, a double by Alyssa Montoya. Camille McIver retired only one batter in the first inning before being lifted.
Jasmine Stewart gave the Swedes just what they needed in Game 2, twirling a two-hit shutout. Ashley Montoya homered and singled, while Alyssa Montoya doubled and singled as they took care of the offense.
The Swedes will have their hands full on Saturday when they play arch-rival Kansas Wesleyan twice in Salina.
Bethany is 22-20 overall.
