McPherson College head men’s basketball coach Tim Swartzendruber has announced the dates and times for the 2015 McPherson College Basketball Camp.
The dates for camp will be June 8-11, with all sessions being held in the McPherson College Sport Center. Sessions will run each day from 9-11 a.m.
The camp is for any boy or girl who will be in grades 2-8 in the fall of 2015. Campers will be divided according to age and ability.
The program will consist of teaching basic basketball fundamentals including: shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, footwork and defense along with team and transition drills. Contests will held in the following areas: hot shot, free throw, 1-on-1 and 3-on-3.
A special feature of the camp this year will be a presentation by a Sports Psychologist. He will spend time with each group working to employ methods which will benefit each participant.
“I am extremely excited about having Brendan Danker work with our campers this year. Brendan has an extensive background in basketball and psychology. He is excited about coming to Kansas to work with our campers,” Swartzendruber said.
The McPherson College camp has been one of the best in Kansas for many years.
“We strive to make our camp not only a great basketball environment, but also fun,” Swartzendruber said. “I have always enjoyed working with young people and teaching the game of basketball. We have a great camp staff and promise to have tremendous enthusiasm throughout the week.”
McPherson College women’s head coach Gordon Reimer, along with McPherson College men’s assistant coach TJ Eskildsen, highlight the staff which also will include members of the men’s and women’s teams.
Each camper who registers by the deadline will receive a T-shirt. The deadline to enroll is May 29. Forms are available on the McPherson College men’s basketball website or by contacting Swartzendruber at [email protected] or 620-242-0576.
