BC softball team stops KW; 2nd game halted

SALINA — Bethany College’s softball team will try to complete a sweep of arch-rival Kansas Wesleyan on Monday.

The Swedes won Saturday’s opener 8-5 and led the second game 3-2 when it was halted in the fifth inning. The game will be resumed at 4 p.m. Monday.

Bethany overcame a 3-0 deficit to win the opener, scoring three times in the fourth and fifth innings, then adding two runs in the sixth.

The winners pounded out 12 hits, including three by Jenna Carson. Maria Cerenio-Jordan and Jordan Blakesley homered. Jasmine Stewart was the winner.

The victory pushed Bethany past the .500 mark in the KCAC at 8-7 and it’s 23-20 overall.  KW is 10-5 in the conference and 35-10 overall.
