Friends University is the current leader of the KCAC Commissioners Cup, with the spring sports season yet to be completed.
Through the winter sports, Friends had totaled 80 points, including firsts in indoor track and field for both men and women. The Falcons also have compiled three second-place finishes. There have been 11 sports that count toward the Cup with seven yet to go.
Ottawa is in second with 70 points, while Saint Mary is third with 68. Completing the Top 5 are Tabor (65) and Kansas Wesleyan (64).
Sterling (60) heads the second five followed by Southwestern (57), McPherson College (53), Bethany (43) and Bethel (35).
As far as the spring goes, McPherson College could pick up some big points in men’s and women’s tennis. The Mac women lead the KCAC and the men are tied with Bethany for the top spot, with their dual match this week figuring to decide the outcome.
Mac also could fare well in men’s and women’s track and field, where it is the defending champion. The Bulldogs, however, will be hurt in softball and baseball, as they are in last place in both, plus they also don’t have men’s and women’s golf.
