SALINA — It took a couple of extra days, but Bethany College’s softball team completed a sweep of arch-rival Kansas Wesleyan on Monday, basically ending the Coyotes’ KCAC title hopes.
Bethany had won the first game 8-5 on Saturday and rain halted the second game with the game picked up at the point of interruption in the fifth inning.
Camille McIver picked up the win in a 6-4 decision. The Swedes are now 9-7 in the KCAC and just a game back of the Coyotes, who fell to 10-6 with the two losses. Friends is on top at 12-2.
Bethany slammed five homers in the game, two by Ashley Montoya. Hitting one each were Alyssa Montoya, Courtney Davis and Jordan Blakesley.
Bethany is now 24-20 overall. It hosts Sterling today in its final KCAC action.
