BC men golfers have big hill to climb

GARDEN CITY — Bethany College’s men’s golf team is going to have to make a monumental comeback today at Buffalo Dunes.

The Swedes entered today’s second round of the KCAC Championships 16 strokes behind Southwestern. The Builders shot rounds of 288-295-583 on Monday, with Bethany shooting 296-303-599.

The rest of the teams are well back.

Jose Acevedo led the Swedes with a 72-73-145, good for fourth. Other scores were Josh Meeks (72-80-152), Oliver Rubenstein (75-78-153), Ben Johnson (77-77-154) and Josef Loughlin (79-75-154).

Bethany had four other entries playing unattached. The Swedes’ Nathan Linbacher is in second after shooting 71-70-141. Other BC golfers were Scott Farrall (72-77-149), Greg Miller (81-71-152) and Juan Sin (77-78-155).

Southwestern’s Seth Bryan shot 69-70-139 for first-day medalist honors. Teammate Shane Gilbert added 72-72-144.
