This Saturday is the Red Shoe Party to benefit CASA A Voice for Children, Inc. The event is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Cedars Conference Center, 1021 Cedars Drive in McPherson.

CASA: A Voice for Children, Inc. is a non-profit organization which advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the court system. Their work is based on the belief that all children are entitled to a safe and permanent home. Court Appointed Special Advocates work in the court system through trained volunteers to serve as the child’s advocate and represent the child’s best interests in ‘child in need of care’ proceedings in the Ninth Judicial District.

A CASA volunteer researches a child’s case and presents the facts to the judge from the perspective of a neutral third party. A CASA volunteer then makes recommendations to the court on what is in the best interest of the child. CASA volunteers advocate for anything that is in a child’s best interest from counseling to visitation with siblings or other relatives, adoption, or even clothes. Children deserve to be in a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible and CASA volunteers work to ensure that children are moved out of the system as quickly as possible.

Sandra Bradley, CASA Executive Director, said, "The Red Shoe Party is based on Dorothy's red slippers. Those slippers signify a way for her to get home, just like our CASA volunteers signify a way for these children to find a safe and permanent home."

Food, drinks, live music, games and auction items will be part of the evening. To get tickets to Saturday's event, go online to or call (316) 284-6909.
