HALSTEAD — Smoky Valley’s softball team outlasted Halstead 6-4 in the first game on Tuesday, but couldn’t complete the sweep with a 16-13 loss in Game 2.
Smoky Valley pitcher Keni Campbell evened her record at 3-3 in the opener, as the Vikings scored two runs in each of the first three innings. Jacque Hulse hit a two-run homer and Kelsie Anderson slugged two triples, good for three RBIs.
The Dragons sped to a 14-2 lead in Game 2, but the Vikings made a spirited rally to close the gap. Leaders for the Vikes were Anderson (homer, three hits total, three runs, two RBIs), Campbell (three hits total, two doubles, three runs scored, two RBIs) and Katie Bellah (three hits total, two doubles, three runs scored, two RBIs).
