The McPherson County Council on Aging was the recipient this week of a grant in the amount of $10,416 to assist with the costs associated with providing foot care for McPherson County seniors in need.
This grant will cover the costs of foot care by a licensed professional that includes: servicing toenails, callouses, general foot inspection, etc. The purpose of this service is to assist seniors who might not be physically or medically able to care for their own feet and are not financially able to pay for professional foot care, get the care and attention their feet need. In many cases it will enable them to be more mobile and improve their quality of life. It will also help identify potential health problems earlier.
McPherson County residents may contact the McPherson County Council on Aging office at 620-241-4383 or the senior centers in their communities to get additional information on dates, times and locations of foot care services throughout the county. All foot care services are by appointment only on designated days at each location.
Funds for the ‘MCCA Foot Care for Seniors in Need’ were provided in part by the Kansas Health Foundation (KHF) Public Health and the Larry Wedel Health Funds and are administered by the McPherson County Community Foundation.
