Bulldogs close out softball season

LEAVENWORTH — McPherson College’s softball season is over, and it’s time to look to next year and put the past in the past.

Mac lost its final two games on Wednesday to Saint Mary, 10-0 and 5-0. It was a painful year for the Bulldogs of first-year coach Ashley Spencer, whose team finished 1-17 in the KCAC and 4-35 overall.

Mariah Wedel had the only Mac hit in Game 1. Amanda Connell took the loss. It was a close game until the fourth when Saint Mary scored seven runs.

The Spires were a 5-0 winner in Game 2. It was close again until the sixth when Saint Mary scored three runs.

The Bulldogs had only three hits, one each by Emily Davis, McKenna Deckard and Sydney Lipton. Amanda Connell took the loss.
