HILLSBORO — Like many days this season, Central Christian College’s softball team was competitive in its final doubleheader of the year on Saturday, but the result was two losses to Tabor College by a total of three runs.
Tabor scored two runs in the sixth inning to break a 6-all tie and then held on for the 8-6 first-game win. The Lady Tigers pounded out 12 hits, including three by Cheyenne Reynolds. Sydney Nelson and Nicole Martin collected two hits apiece, and Martin drove in two runs along with Dana Dean.
Kasi Kraus took the loss. Central actually led the game 6-3 before Tabor tied it with three runs in the fourth.
The second game stretched to eight innings as the Bluejays scored two runs in the sixth inning to get it tied at 4-all, then Tabor scored a run in the eighth for the walk-off win.
CCC took a 4-2 lead into the sixth inning as again it let a potential win get away.
Reynolds had another big game with two hits and two RBIs, while Kraus notched two hits and Kristen Hall batted in two runs. Cheyenne Bouis took the loss in relief.
Central finished its season with an 8-33 record.
