WICHITA — Pitching was the name of the game Saturday when Bethany College and Friends hooked up for a KCAC baseball twinbill.

Bethany won the first game 4-2, but Friends gained the split in another close decision, 3-2.

Ace Clayton Cozzitorto picked up the win for the Swedes in Game. 1. Bethany broke a 2-all tie with two runs in the seventh.

Friends’ sixth-inning singleton was the difference in Game 2. Ryley Ross took the loss in relief after a good starting performance by Dan Eck, who pitched five solid innings.

Top offensive performers of the day for Bethany were Sammuel Ramirez and Nicholas Ceccarelli, both of whom had four hits in two games. Ceccarelli had three RBIs on the day.

The teams are playing two more games today, this time in Lindsborg. First pitch is 2 p.m.

The Swedes are 13-13 in the KCAC, 22-25 overall.
