GALVA — Canton-Galva’s baseball team nearly pulled off a sweep of Ell-Saline on Tuesday.
The Eagles were an 8-7 winner in Game 1, as Connor Farnham picked up the win on the mound, striking out nine in five innings. Tanner Klingensmith came on to earn the save.
Klingensmith had a triple and single, good for two RBIs. Nick Bray, Hunter Pearson and Devyn Elkins all added two hits and Ethan Loyd drove in two runs.
The second game was a wild affair as the Eagles sprinted to a 6-0 first-inning lead, which was just a warmup to a wild offensive battle. The Eagles led 10-8 going into the seventh, but the Cardinals scored three runs for the 11-10 victory.
The Eagles had the winning runs on in the bottom of the seventh, but Klingensmith’s smash was speared to end the game.
Klingensmith had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Eagles. Reed Wiens drove in a pair. Klingensmith, Wiens, Loyd and Farnham all had two hits.
The Eagles are home Friday to take on Marion.
