The McPherson County Community Foundation announced on Wednesday their next level goal for the Foundation by 2020. The goal is to increase their assets to $24 million by December of 2020.
Foundation President/CEO Becky Goss said, "That's approximately an $11 million jump."
The reason the foundation believes they can reach that goal is because of the massive transfer of wealth that will be happening in McPherson County in the next few years.
Goss said, "It is projected that between now and the end of 2020, $236 million will transfer from one generation to the next in McPherson County alone."
The Foundation is looking to capture five percent of that number for charitable purposes. That would result in $550,000 in additional grant funds to organizations and individuals each year.
Goss said, "All of that equates to benefits for organizations and for individuals and residents of McPherson County."
But it's not just about raising money, according to Goss. She said, "If we are truly successful, at the end of 2020, a catchphrase in everyone's home will be a culture of philanthropy. It's about giving back."
