GREAT BEND — Bethany College’s baseball team survived its KCAC Tournament opener against Saint Mary on Wednesday with an 11-inning, 3-1 victory.
That sets up a winner’s bracket game today against KCAC champion and nationally ranked Tabor.
The Swedes pushed across two runs in the top of the 11th, then Robert Johnson came on in relief to retire all three hitters he faced.
Clayton Cozzitorto pitched the first eight innings for the Swedes. Carl Daniels, Ryley Ross and Johnson followed.
Cord Briggs had two hits and an RBI for the Swedes.
The Swedes and Tabor tangle at 3 p.m. today.
