GREAT BEND — The softball and baseball seasons came to an end for Bethany College on Friday in their respective KCAC Postseason Tournaments.
The softball team, which lost its very first game back on Wednesday, came all the way back through the loser’s bracket and even forced an extra game against arch-rival Kansas Wesleyan.
The Swedes first on Friday had to dispatch with Tabor 4-0 behind the shutout pitching of Camille McIver. That led to the first game with undefeated Kansas Wesleyan, which was overpowered by the Swedes 7-1 as Jasmine Stewart was nails on the mound to pick up the win for Bethany.
But all those games in a short period of time may have taken its toll on the Swedes, who fell behind 7-0 early and eventually lost 7-3 in the deciding game.
Bethany finished 30-25, the fourth straight year it has won at least 30 games.
The Swede baseball team was ousted 7-6 by Sterling, when Jake Morgan hit a game-winning, walk-off RBI double.
Bethany closed 23-29.
