LINDSBORG — Smoky Valley and Hesston hooked up for a pair of well-pitched softball games on Monday, which were make-ups from a previous rainout.
The Vikings’ Keni Campbell was nails in the opener, dealing a five-hitter in a 2-1 victory. Hesston scored its only run in the first, which the Vikings matched in the second. Smoky Valley pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Jacque Hulse singled and Hannah Morrical followed with a single, which was bobbled by the left fielder as Hulse sped home with the winner.
Hulse had three hits in the game and Morrical two.
Hesston scored three runs in the first inning of Game 2 and made it stand up for a 4-1 victory. Campbell allowed only one run over the final six innings, but received minimal offensive support as the Vikings were held to three hits by Morgan Holopirek.
The Vikings are now 6-10 both in the CKL and overall. They play Friday at Haven.
