BC men's soccer adds Shipman

LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s men’s soccer team has added Taner Shipman to its 2015 roster.

Shipman, a defender, prepped at Bonner Springs High School. He played soccer all four years and was team captain for two of them. He led the Braves in goals in 2014 and was selected  second-team All-Kaw Valley League. 

He also has played for the Toca F.C. Division One club team for two years.

In addition to competing in soccer, Shipman has played tennis for three years. He was captain for one year and played No. 1 doubles. He played baseball as a freshman as he’s a well-rounded athlete.

Shipman was involved in Kay's Community Service Club, was business manager and editor of the high school newspaper and a member of the French Club.

"We are delighted with the addition of Taner to our program,” Bethany coach Shane Taylor said. “He possesses a tremendous work ethic on and off the field and we are looking forward to his presence.”

He is the son of Mike and Karen Shipman. He carries a 3.3 grade point average and plans to major in Pre-Physical Therapy.
