Moundridge Superintendent to take Maize job

Chad Higgins, Superintendent of Moundridge USD 423, has accepted the position of Superintendent of Maize USD 266.

Higgins, who has served in Moundridge since 2009, is a graduate of Emporia State and Fort Hays State universities and is pursuing his doctorate in education from Wichita State University.

Higgins replaces Maize Superintendent Doug Powers, who will leave the district this summer to become assistant superintendent for business and public relations for the Turner school district in Kansas City, Kan.

McPherson USD 418 Associate Superintendent Chris Ruder was also a finalist for the Maize job, along with Andrew Koenigs, associate superintendent for human resources for Emporia schools, Valley Center Superintendent Cory Gibson and Higgins.
