LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s men’s tennis team learned today that it has qualified for the NAIA National Tournament in Mobile, Ala., set to begin May 12.
The Swedes were the KCAC regular-season champions, but were toppled by McPherson College in the KCAC Championships, which carries with it an automatic national berth.
Bethany was ranked No. 14, however, in the final poll to earn one of the 24 spots in the field, as it will be one of the at-large teams.
"We held our breath for a while, so it was a great feeling to see that the raters kept us in the Top 15 in the nation,” Bethany coach Tony Swiantek said. “We are packing our bags and heading to Mobile.”
The bracket will be announced later today.
