McPherson College’s tennis teams will be heading to Mobile, Ala., next week to compete in the NAIA National Championships.

The Mac women are traveling to nationals for a second straight year. The Bulldogs have drawn Concordia University of California in the first round. Match time is 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Bulldogs were 7-0 in the KCAC, 11-7 overall. They were both the KCAC regular-season and tournament champion.

Concordia is ranked No. 13 and won the Golden State Athletic Conference.

The Bulldog men are making their first-ever trip to nationals after winning the KCAC Postseason Tournament. They had finished second in the regular season to Bethany, but defeated the Swedes in the postseason to earn the automatic berth.

The Bulldogs are matched against Graceland University of Iowa in the first round, with match time a rise-and-shine 8:30 a.m.

Bethany’s men also advanced as an at-large entry. The Swedes play Cardinal Stritch of Wisconsin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in another early bird special.

Both Mac and Bethany are led by first-year coaches. Justin Stuckey guides the Bulldogs and Tony Swiantek pilots the Swedes.
