MARION — After either sweeping or being swept in their first eight doubleheaders of the season, the Moundridge softball team finally split a twinbill on Tuesday against Marion.
The Wildcats won the first game 7-6, but lost the second 11-1. Stats were not available due to a computer malfunction.
“There were lots of ups and downs in these games,” Moundridge coach Clark Wedel said. “We played well in the first game and then had some struggles closing out the game in the bottom of the seventh. The good news is that we held together enough to still get the win in extra innings. In the second game, it just seemed that we maybe checked out a little mentally. We continue to work on maintaining a certain level of play that will keep up competitive at all times. We just didn't maintain that level in Game 2.”
Moundridge is now 11-7 on the season. It completes regular-season play Tuesday at Chase County.
