LINDSBORG — The Cowboy Connection continues for the Bethany College wrestling team.

Zane Baugh, a standout for the Abilene Cowboys, has joined the Swedes for the 2015-16 season. He'll join current Bethany wrestler Mathew Holt and assistant wrestling coach Marvin Tischhauser as Abilene wrestling products in the Swedes’ program. Courtney Strauss and Jordan Ward are former Swede wrestlers who come hailed from Abilene as well.

Baugh was a four-year letterwinner and three-time state placer in high school, including a second-place finish his senior year. He also was named the Most Valuable Wrestler by his team this season. Well-rounded, he ran cross country for Abilene and was on the Honor Roll throughout his career.

"Zane is a tremendous addition to this class and to this organization,” Bethany coach Cody Garcia said. “Not just because of the skill and mindset that has brought him success on the mat, but also because of his familiarity and trust in the coaches and the program. When you bring in a kid that believes in the system and understands the commitment needed in that system, the transition is smoother and the impact on those around him will be felt sooner. We look for him to step in, help others buy in and make a difference from the start.”

Zane is the son of Caleb and Amy Baugh. He plans on majoring in History and Pre-Law.
