LINDSBORG — Bethany College women’s basketball coach Brett Morehouse went all the way to California to land his latest recruit.

Ashley DeClerck of Twin Peaks, Calif., has joined the Swedes for next season.

DeClerck, a 5-10 guard-forward, played basketball, softball and ran track and field at Rim of the World High School in Lake Arrowhead, Calif.

She was selected to the Lady Royals Invitational All-Tournament team in 2013 and in 2014, and was the EMR award winner in 2014.

As a senior, the versatile DeClerck averaged 6.3 points per game and 9.5 rebounds, while coming up with 52 steals and handing out 29 assists.

"Ashley DeClerck is going to be a great addition to the Bethany College community,” Morehouse said. “Like many of the other members of this year's recruiting class, she is an outstanding student who excelled in multiple sports during her high school career. As a basketball player, Ashley is still very raw. However, during her visit, it was obvious that she is a naturally gifted athlete who has a ton of untapped potential. Ashley has a genuine desire to improve as a person and player and we are excited that she has chosen Bethany as the place where she will continue that journey."

She is the daughter of Phil and Katharine DeClerck. She has a 3.6 high school grade point average, and plans to study Pre-Med.
