Little River, Marion split in baseball

LITTLE RIVER — Little River’s baseball team shook off a disheartening first-game loss to Marion on Thursday to gain a split of the doubleheader.

Little River is 13-5 with one twinbill left to play next week.

The Redskins were in total control of Game 1, powering their way to a 10-3 lead after three innings.

However, the Warriors erupted for nine runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth for a stunning 15-11 victory.

Grant Harvey had three hits to lead Little River, while Dalton Arnold and Laramie Peters added two apiece. Harvey and Arnold had two RBIs.

Harvey took the loss.

The Redskins held off Marion 9-8 in the second game as the Warriors scored a run in the top of the seventh, but couldn’t get the equalizer.

Harvey had another three-hit game to lead the way, while Jj Porter and Jeb Sauer had two apiece.

Cordell Moore struck out 12 on his way to the victory.

Little River plays Tuesday at Ellsworth before entering postseason play.
