McPherson High’s JV baseball team split last Friday with Salina South. Game information had been unavailable due to a computer problem.

In Game 1, the Bullpups had three innings of two runs each for a 6-2 victory.

Jeffrey Reed smacked two hits, including a triple. Paxton Leaf also had two hits, one a double. Tyler Wheat also hit a double.

Alex Kalkhorst wrapped up a solid JV season by allowing four hits and fanning five to receive credit for the win.

South, which was subbing for Winfield since it didn’t have a JV team, charged back to win the second game 17-9, scoring 11 runs in the final two innings.

The Bullpups lost despite pounding out 16 hits, including four by Wyatt Seidl and three by Kalkhorst and Reed. Leaf (two hits) and Zane Myers (two hits, two RBIs) also contributed. Seidl and Myers had doubles.

Raine Reitsma, Gunnar Reiss and Caleb Giddings all pitched.

MHS completed a winning season with a 12-8 record.
