HESSTON — The Hesston High boys tennis team will be taking its entire crew to Emporia on Friday for the Class 3-2-1A State Tournament.
The Swathers completed their regional meet on Monday — which had been halted by rain on Saturday — by winning the team title after going to a tiebreaker. Hesston and Wichita Collegiate both scored 20 points, but the Swathers were given the nod.
Hesston’s Grant Dahlsten and Garrett Roth were the doubles champions, while the other doubles team of Daniel Holthus and Gus Williams earned the sixth and final spot.
In singles, Collin Martin and Isaac Penner advanced by taking second and third, respectively.
The Swathers will enter state as the third-ranked team, as Kansas City Christian and Wichita Collegiate were ranked ahead of them in the final poll.
Collegiate also qualified all six of its players.
