LINDSBORG — Longtime Buhler High basketball standout Shawn Davis will be staying close by, as he recently signed a letter of intent with Bethany College.
Davis, a 6-2 forward with outstanding leaping ability, was a two-year starter for coach Danny Wahlgren. He earned second-team AVCTL Division III both as a junior and senior. Davis also was honorable mention All-Reno County his junior season and was second team this past season. He made the All-Tournament Team at the Salina Invitational.
He averaged just under 11 points a game and six rebounds. He was able to use his athleticism to get to the rim, shooting 60 percent from the field.
"We are pleased to have Shawn Davis choose to attend Bethany College and become a part of Bethany basketball,” Swede coach Clair Oleen said. “Shawn has learned the game well under legendary high school coach and Bethany alum Denny Wahlgren and he has been a mainstay for Buhler High School the last three years. Shawn is a tremendous athlete who will adapt well to the college game because of his strength and athleticism. Our staff and Shawn will work hard to further develop and refine his basketball skills."
Davis is the son of Susan Taylor. He has a 3.0 high school grade point average and is undecided on a major.
